became a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe in 2022

 

The European Fairy Tale Route is an itinerary that links imaginary spaces to real places with the aim of highlighting the heritage of myths, values, and models of behavior which are the basis of our European identity… In a journey suspended between space and time, visitors can explore the enchanted places of the fairy-tale characters, and at the same time delve into the historical, anthropological, and literary culture of the stories, also experiencing the attraction parks in the tourist destinations of European fairy tales revealed by the route… >

European Fairy Tale Route
Devoted to children education

 

Thanks to the rich and diversified tradition of fairy tales, the EFTR is devoted to children edication and trasmission of fundamental values, such as freedom, justice and equity  as expressed in the European Convention of Human Rights adn Fundamental Freedoms of the Council of Europe (Rome, 1950) – with all “connected values” as the respect for people, gender, nature, environment and animals. The EFTR is a road on which children and adults can be accompanied from their specific culture to a broader, European perspective and identity>

Since November 2014, with the exhibition “Pinocchio and his European friends”, of the Carlo Collodi National Foundation, which took place in Brussels, on the occasion of the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the fascinating journey of the European Fairy Tale Route has unfolded through initiatives and events of its partners, until arriving – waiting for the next occasions – in June 2022, with the Certification Ceremony of the European Fairy Tale Route as Cultural Route of the Council of Europe>
